Updated: Jan 14

Giannis Sina Ugo Antetokounmpo is a Greek-Nigerian professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born on December 6, 1994, 0Giannis's country of origin, in addition to his size, speed, strength and ball-handling has earned him the nickname "The Greek Freak". He is regarded as one of the greatest power forwards and one of the Greatest European players in the NBA history.

Giannis is one of the most valuable players in the history of basketball. This is seen as he has earned himself an NBA Most Valuable Player Award in 2019 and 2020, joining Kareem Abdul- Jabbar and Lebron James as the only players in the NBA history to win two MVPs before turning 26. He has also achieved many awards such as the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2020 becoming only the third player after Michael Jordan 1988) and Hakeem Olajuwon (1994) to win both awards in the same season. He also led the Bucks Team to their first NBA championships in 2021 since 1972 and was named Finals MVP. The same year, he was honored as one of the league's greatest players of all time by being the named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

Giannis was just a common teen in the streets of Athens who got introduced to basketball by his elder brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo. He immediately fell in love with the game that he had to do anything to play. Being a citizen of Greece with immigrant parents from Nigeria, it was quite hard for them to cope financially making their lives difficult as they all had to struggle to live. Their family was so poor that they could not afford two separate sneakers for him and his brother to play the basketball game.

He loved the game, but he also needed to play so much so that he gets into the NBA as this would enable him to get enough resources to provide for his entire family. He struggled with his brother as the only black kids who had the opportunity to play in a basketball team in Athens. With determination and hard work, they managed to secure their place in the world by catching the attention of scouters from various parts of the world.

However, Giannis was determined to play in the NBA and he made it happen.

Giannis secured himself as the 15th overall NBA pick for the Milwaukee Bucks team and also a Nike deal for his "FREAK" merchandise. His brother on the hand, had an injury causing him not to be drafted alongside with him the year that he was drafted. However, he recovered and worked hard to join Giannis in the Milwaukee Bucks Team the following year.

The story of Giannis teaches us to be determined and positive about our dreams and whatever that we set our minds to. With much determination and hard work, we will be able to achieve everything.

Giannis's social media engagement for October alone.

Over the years, Giannis has seen the importance of social media and its impacts. with this insight, he has used social media for his general benefits. Giannis is not only a basketball player but also a businessman. Owning a multimillion merchandise, is a huge achievement and that is why he would do anything just to keep the business at its best.

below shows how Giannis uses his social media.

Giannis has over 16M followers with 998 posts on Instagram. In October alone, he published 29 posts while getting millions of views and likes as well as comments. during these times he was preparing for the debut of the new NBA season, so it was just the right time for him to advertise his sneaker merchandise, "The Freaks". After measuring his applause rate, looks like Giannis has made a total of about 64.1% of audience engagement in the past month which is more than half of a hundred. This is very good for business.

On X as well, Giannis has over 3.4M followers with about 1K posts. However, in October alone, he published only 22posts also during the same basketball season. After measuring his applause rate, he is doing quite good as he has about 111.4% engagements from them which is more than a hundred, also very good for business. This also explains that he has more engagement on X as compared to Instagram even though the crowd rate is highly different.

Overall, I think Giannis is doing very well with social media and it is also going well for him. I wish to see more from him in the future.
